A Folio of Steam Locomotive Paintings and Text
'Heavy Western European Steam Locomotives'
 

This is a folder (c.1980) containing a thesis with fine handpainted illustrations. There are five accurate, highly finished paintings of steam locomotives at a scale of 2cm = 1 metre, plus a further vignette painting of a locomotive in action. The five paintings consist of side views of locomotives from Great Britain, Norway, Denmark, and Germany (2 images). The vignette painting shows a Deutsche  Bundesbahn engine. All of the paintings are accompanied with typewritten descriptions laid onto the heavy card of the paintings. there are 6 text pages (including the one with the vignette) with very informative text about the locomotives of various European railways. The text is typewritten on paper laid onto the card. the paintings are signed "Seymour"

The card sheets measure 64 cm wide by 34 cm tall, and are contained in a purpose made folder which is covered in a leather-look adhesive plastic and has an inset title on the front board. The condition is very good. One of the paintings has been laminated with plastic which has caused the colour to spread around the image. The other paintings are in excellent condition, with only a tiny scatter of foxing. There are some marks to the text pages and the one concerning France has foxing.
