Dosimeter Corp Model 865 (0–1500 mR) – Lot of 5 Units
We have a large inventory of Dosimeter Corp Model 865 units in various ranges, and this listing is for five (5) units of the 0–1500 mR range. The Model 865 is a trusted, industry-standard instrument widely used in the nuclear sector for decades. It remains a staple in Emergency Kits at nuclear stations due to its reliability, simplicity, and battery-free design.
Unlike electronic dosimeters, these require no internal battery. We also have a limited number of battery-operated chargers available for $80 each, or you can purchase new chargers online. These dosimeters are a cost-effective alternative to electronic units that often exceed $400, while still delivering excellent performance.

Testing & Calibration
  • Drift Test Included: Each unit will be drift-tested and only those meeting the ANSI standard (≤10% of scale over 24 hours) will be sold.
  • Optional Full ANSI Calibration: For an additional $30 per unit (or $150 for all 5), we will:
  1. Perform a 24-hour drift test
  2. Irradiate with NIST-traceable sources
  3. Verify accuracy and provide a calibration certificate. If you’d like calibration, please let us know at checkout so we can invoice accordingly.
Radiation Safety Context
For reference, the NRC occupational exposure limit is 5 REM (5R). At this level, no adverse physical effects occur. These dosimeters measure up to 1500 mRem (1.5 REM), making them ideal for monitoring real-time exposure during nuclear-related work. They do not replace accredited government dosimetry, which we also offer at CHP Dosimetry. Instead, they provide an immediate, low-cost indication of dose. In nuclear plants, operators routinely check these through the eyepiece while working.

Peace of Mind
These instruments are perfect for emergency preparedness or professional use, offering reassurance in any situation involving potential radiation exposure. They are designed for 24-hour operation between charges, so be sure to purchase a charger from us or another source.
