This is a rare four-page flyer promoting the one-night, Benefit Performance of the Original Broadway production of the JAMES THURBER and ELLIOTT NUGENT comedy "THE MALE ANIMAL" on March 6th, 1940 at the Cort Theatre in New York City. (The production opened January 9th, 1940 and ran for 243 performances.) ..... Proceeds from this benefit performance went to the Connecticut College Alumnae and Scholarship Funds. This four page flyer measures 3 1/2" X 6 1/4" inches and includes a JAMES THURBER illustration on the front, performance details and excerpts from several New York reviews on the inside pages and ticket prices and booking information on the backside ..... CONDITION: With the exception of discoloration to the cover, this rare flyer is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
