1972 American League Championship Series Detroit Tigers (Vs. Oakland A's) Phantom Tickets Games 1-3 (Three Complete Tickets on an Uncut Sheet) - MINT condition. You might be wondering why are these phantom tickets since Tigers WERE in the 1972 ALCS? Here's the thing....from 1969 to 1993, home field advantage in the ALCS alternated between the two divisions (East and West). The team in the division with the home field advantage would play games 3, 4 (if necessary) and 5 (if necessary) in their home park. The Western Division had the home field advantage in 1971 so the Detroit Tigers (1972 Eastern Division champs) had the home field advantage in 1972. For some reason, the Tigers printed these tickets for games 1, 2 and 3 at Tiger Stadium, but the first two games were scheduled to be played in Oakland, and the final three in Detroit. Obviously these tickets were printed in error. So....these tickets had to be scrapped and new sheets printed for games 3.4 and 5. Luckily, a number of these uncut three-ticket sheets have survived in unused MINT condition (as you can see from the scan). No collection of Detroit Tigers items is complete without these phantom tickets. Please note: the sheets will have different seat numbers than shown in the scan but they are all in MINT condition.
