Things to consider before buying this type of player:
- INTERCHANGEABILITY - You must buy a player specifically made for your model/year and sound system. Many GM-made players are not interchangeable, even face designs may look alike. If your model and year are not mentioned in the description - DO NOT BUY. Please consult with GM/Pontiac/Chevy/Cadillac dealer or contact us with your model and year.
- THEFT LOCK FEATURE - This player has an Automatic Theft Lock. Almost all GM-made players, including this one, must be reprogrammed and activated at a Dealership or authorized shop to interchange with your car. Please see the Activation Procedure below.

Activation Procedure:
Even though we are capable of bench-testing these types of players, they still require reprogramming and activation by dealers or shops with the Tech II tool. If a player is not reprogrammed with the VIN number of your car, it will go into "LOC" mode as soon as you start your car and will not be operational until activated.
- Before you do anything else - once again match Part Numbers. If an old player is not available - make sure the model and PRODUCTION date (check driver's door label) of your vehicle are mentioned in the description. Many GM-made players look alike, but a dealer will not be able to reprogram/activate it if Part numbers or production/model mismatch. The player must be specifically made for your model and year (production date) plus sound system.
- Call your nearest or preferred GM/Pontiac/Buick/Chevy/Olds/Toyota dealer for their requirements and service fees. Some auto shops are also capable of reprogramming GM-made players. Ask around for the best deal.
- If able and planning to install player yourself - negotiate lower fees. The dealer often gives a full installation estimate. Stress out that you need just activation and will install the player yourself. Search YouTube for any videos on radio installation.
- You may remove your old player and install ours, however, do not start the car. Turn ignition to Aux mode and see if the player can be turned on. In some cases, it's possible to test players before activation. However, as soon as you start the car player usually locks itself and will require activation.
- Take the player or your car to the dealer.
- Let dealer reprogram and activate your new player.
