APC 900VA XL model - 24V DC battery system - pure sine wave inverter. Cold start capable.
This is a good candidate as the inverter in a DIY micro electricity storage/generation solution. It can also be used as a UPS obviously. This is an XL unit meaning that it is designed to accept extra battery packs externally via a rear mounted Anderson power pole connector. Many components have been uprated and re-designed to accommodate the extra load that more cells place both on the charger and the inverter. The unit has large heat sinks throughout and plenty of space and a fan for thermal regulation. The charger unit is large (and also heat sunk) and capable of charging a massive bank of cells. The APC docs dont really give an upper limit of capacity but I feel the charger is limited to about 12 Amps max current - so if you have a very large bank it will take a very long time to charge.
The original docs give runtime figures for up to 10x battery packs. Each pack had 816 VAH of capacity, giving a total of circa 8KVAH of capacity. At 800VA load level this provided a 13.6 hours of run time. at 100VA this equated to 153 hours of run time, or almost a week.
Recharge time for this battery bank was 24 hours minimum, to 90% capcity from discharged, and in my opinion this is optimistic. It would be a bad idea to drain, then charge for 24 hours and expect it capable of handling this discharge recharge cycle - the batteries would never get to 100% charged and trimming status before being discharged again. If you have other charging methods to assist the recharge time things would be better.
So its essentially rated for continuous duty cycle inversion, and can charge massive battery banks, but I'd recommend ancillary charging to speed things up.
The manual is available (page by page) free of charge (at time of writing) here: http://www.manualslib.com/manual/8278/Apc-2000xl.html#product-900XL
We are selling this UPS as a fully tested electronics module only. We include: 1x APC 900XL elec module 1x input lead 1x output lead 1x Grey connector with unstripped wires for you to use to connect your devices. If you would rather have just the connector and terminals to crimp onto your wiring harness let us know.
Important note: We show an RBC 7 battery and a light in some of the pictures, this is not included in the price, we used them just to show the UPS working and a possible set up.
You do need a battery (24V dc) for the UPS to work. We can sell the RBC7 (pictured) to use with the unit - this gives runtimes of 15 minutes at 600 watts. We also have the original battery packs containing 2x RBC7 sized cells - cost £150 per pack. Limited quantities so please request an email quote. We also have lots of cells from 5AH up to 45AH and can custom design a battery bank to provide your load / run time requirement. We charge per cell cost and a wiring charge to cover cost of components and assembly time.
30 day RTB warranty if sold without cells. 90 day RTB warranty if sold with a cell option provided by us.
We fully test the UPS before sending to you and guarentee it will be in perfect working order. It is second user so cosmetically signs of use should be expected, but we will thoroughly clean before dispatching.
I have taken pictures of the internals to give an idea - this is old school heavy duty engineering. The case has room for extra fans if you are putting the UPS under heavy load or using in a hot location. The boards could be completely removed and re-boxed if you like even! This is a stalwart UPS that has already provided excellent service for years, and will continue to do so. I consider this of the golden age of electronic design and production - like old hoovers, they are more reliable than newer units.
We will ship in cartons purpose built for this UPS with the 24 hour insured service with DPD. We cover any problems that do occour in transit. We normally dispatch on the day ordered, provided the order is before 2PM under normal circumstances. We have the packing materials to make sure that there are no problems in transit. Our warehouse is based in the UK. VAT is included in the buy it now price, and if you are VAT registered you will be able to reclaim this. VAT receipts are sent out via email on request.Tracking details are also available on request (email us).
