This is a antique, Yaka tribe, handmade wooden, twin male and female ancestor fetish power figure which is carved with the two figures standing back to back with bent knees and which are encased in a large fabric medicine bundle or magic charge which is encrusted in clay and decorated with two feather bundles on the shoulders, two plant fiber woven knot designs, two plant fiber belts / bands which are decorated with fabric ties which bind the bundle and the figures together. This antique African fetish statue was collected in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and was made by the Yaka people of Africa. This Yaka fetish is in great condition with some minor wear including some slight dings to the wood, slight cracks and surface patina and would make a fine addition to any African art collection. This beautiful Yaka statue measures 17 inches tall by 6 inches wide with a circumference of 19 inches and weighs 4 pounds 8 ounces. Yaka power figures such as this one were used by diviners, individual tribal members, families and entire villages to protect against evil, to prevent and cure sickness, to solidify contracts or agreements between tribes people, and to repel bad deeds.
