Installation Guidelines

  • Professional Installation Recommended: AC system work requires specialized tools (vacuum pump, manifold gauges) and knowledge of refrigerant handling (R134a is a regulated substance). Improper installation causes leaks or compressor damage.
  • Pre-Installation Prep:
    1. Clean the fitting threads and mating component port with AC system cleaner (removes dirt/debris that can damage the O-ring).
    2. Lubricate the O-ring with AC compressor oil (prevents tearing during installation).
    3. Torque the fitting to specs: 18–22 ft-lbs (HP fitting); 15–18 ft-lbs (LP fitting) – over-tightening strips threads; under-tightening causes leaks.
  • System Testing: After installation, vacuum the AC system for 30+ minutes, then pressure-test with nitrogen (200 PSI) to check for leaks before adding R134a.
