Shooting guard Joe Dumars was selected by the Detroit Pistons in the first round of the 1985 NBA draft (after setting collegiate scoring records at McNeese State University). He led the Pistons (with Isiah Thomas) to the first of two NBA World Championships, captured the coveted NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Award in 1989, was named a five time member of the league’s All Defensive Team, and was a co-captain of “Dream Team II.”
