I have hand knit many nice sized most about 7" to 8" bright colored 100% cotton facecloths or dishcloths. Some slightly smaller or larger. The size may vary slightly. I have used them for both purposes. They are very soft and great for the bath and I love them for doing dishes.

There are 2 white and 2 off white ones that I knit with an acrylic yarn and the others are all cotton. The acrylic ones are nice for dishes but I don't recommend them for facecloths

 I have knit them on a number 7 needle so loosely but when you wash cotton it will shrink a bit and fluff up.
Depending on the brand some are already soft and fluffy but the others are a tighter wind and will fluff up and soften after washing.
