Show 2 Chinese coins. Remove 1 coin and place it inside your pocket. Ask the spectators to make a guess the number of coins left in your left hand. They will reply 1. Reveal that the 2 coins are still in your hand.

You will now ask the spectator to take one of the coins and help you place it in your pocket instead, without you touching the coin. Ask the spectators to make a second guess on the number of coins left. They will reply 1. Reveal that there are STILL 2 coins in your palm.

The coin which the spectator left in your pocket has returned!

You repeat one last time, so that nothing can be missed. Pick up 1 coin and put it in your pocket. Ask them to make a final guess. Your spectators will probably exclaim “Ah Ha! I got you this time round, there are two coins!” They got it wrong again as you open your left hand and show that you only got 1 coin.

This is because the magic has not yet to happen.
