PLEASE NOTE - THE DAMPERS ARE MADE TO BE APPROX 0.5" (12.7mm) SMALLER THAN THE INTERNAL FLUE PIPE DIAMETER. THE DAMPER MUST ALWAYS HAVE A SMALL GAP TO ALLOW IT TO SPIN FREELY AND TO PREVENT DANGEROUS GAS (CO2) BUILD UP. For example, the damper made to fit a 6" pipe will be approx. 5.5" in diameter etc... Please check the INTENRAL diameter of your flue before making a purchase to ensure you have selected the correct size.

Some dampers are designed to be fitted directly inside the stove collar, however this damper is designed to be fitted inside a vitreous or a single wall flue pipe section. It fits into the first section of flue pipe above your stove and works like a butterfly valve, opening and closing to control airflow. More airflow means a hotter burn — a damper helps reduce the draw through the flue, so the stove burns slower and cooler when needed. It's especially useful for trying to achieve an overnight burn on older non-EcoDesign stove models.

HOW TO FIT THE DAMPER:
- 1. First, choose a place in the flue pipe where the damper can spin freely. Make sure it’s not blocked by the stove or any access doors
- 2. Remove the spindle from the damper body. To do this, hold the damper and press the pointed end of the spindle down onto a bit of scrap wood until you can twist and release it.
- 3. Drill a 6mm (¼ inch) hole on both sides of the flue pipe where you want the damper to go. Drill carefully – a snug fit is best, especially with vitreous enamel pipe.
- 4. Slide the damper body into the pipe and line it up with the holes. Reinsert the spindle through the holes and damper body, twisting as needed to lock it in place.
- 5. Check that it works – when the handle is horizontal, the damper should be closed; when vertical, it should be open.

Should you wish to return an item for refund, please contact us first. Items must arrive back in new, resalable condition to the address below within 14 days. After this period, a restocking charge will apply.
