Important New Forest historial artefact dating from 1903. A large silver plated tea tray presented to the author William Moens following a successful legal challenge on behalf of the New Forest Commoners against their convictions by the Justices of the Lymington Bench. Baron Montagu of Beaulieu, Lord Arthur Cecil is named as a supporter of this challenge.

PASTURAGE OVER THE OPEN WASTES, INCLUDING THE HIGHWAYS,
THEREBY QUASHING CONVICTIONS BY THE JUSTICES OF THE LYMINGTON
COUNTY BENCH ON THE ALLEGED ISSUE THAT CERTAIN
HIGHWAYS WITHIN THE BOUNDS OF THE SAID FOREST
DID NOT FORM PART OF THE SAID WASTES.
