Featuring Roanwell Corp SA-1552/G Transcom Intercom Switchbox & Field Rack Number 31
Up for sale is a genuine piece of US military armor history: an original T56-6 Combat Vehicle Crewman (CVC) "Bone Dome" Helmet. These iconic helmets were standard issue for American tank crews and Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) operators during the Vietnam War era.
This particular example features fantastic field-used character and clear, highly collectible equipment manufacturer markings.
Key Features & Markings:
- Authentic Comms Module: Left side features the original olive drab switchbox with highly visible stamped details. It features the script logo for defense contractor Roanwell Corp. and the official military designation stamp: SA-1552/G (Transceiver/Intercom Unit).
- Field Character (Rack Number 31): Inside the lower rim, there is a hand-stamped "31". This is a classic military supply room or motor pool rack assignment number, used by quartermasters to inventory active gear assigned to specific vehicle crew slots.
- Helmet Construction: Built with the original rigid laminated ballistic shell, configured with distinct ear cutouts to house internal audio gear.
- Interior Suspension: Retains the olive green canvas web strapping system and leather/vinyl trim lining fragments.
Condition Notes:
- Exterior: The shell retains a heavily weathered vintage black over-paint finish showing honest scuffs, minor chips, and abrasions from genuine field use.
- Interior: The canvas straps show age-appropriate wear and fraying typical of true combat-era militaria. Leather trim pieces exhibit age checking.
- Electronics: The side module is physically intact with its mounting screws and rubberized components. Wiring harness and microphone are not present—sold strictly as a historical display piece.
