About Sergio Tacchini
Sergio Tacchini was founded in Italy in 1966 by the professional tennis player of the same name. At a time when tennis clothing was overwhelmingly white, Tacchini introduced colour, stripes and a distinctly Italian sense of style to the court, helping change the way an entire generation of players looked.
The brand became closely associated with some of tennis's biggest personalities, but in Britain its influence travelled well beyond the sport. During the late 1970s and 1980s, Sergio Tacchini tracksuits and polos were adopted by the emerging football casual movement, prized alongside other continental sportswear discovered on trips across Europe. That connection gave the famous ST logo a cultural identity quite separate from its tennis origins.
Today Sergio Tacchini continues to revisit its archive of track tops, polos and court-inspired sportswear. The appeal remains much the same: Italian sporting heritage with enough colour, character and history to have earned a life far beyond the tennis court.
The Masters Quarter Zip Track Top draws directly on the archive sportswear that made Sergio Tacchini such an important name in both tennis and British casual culture.
Finished in Maritime Blue, the deep navy-blue colour gives the top a classic retro sportswear appearance, complemented by the contrast detailing and unmistakable Sergio Tacchini branding. The quarter-zip construction and high funnel neckline are particularly evocative of the training tops and warm-up clothing worn around European tennis courts during the brand's 1970s and '80s heyday.
The result works just as naturally today with jeans and trainers as it does as sportswear – and has the added appeal of belonging to the distinctive Masters line, one of the names closely associated with Tacchini's archive-inspired collections.
