The vase is especially distinctive for the detailed full-bodied butterfly motifs cut into the crystal around the upper portion, surrounded by geometric panels, crosshatching, fan cuts and deeply cut decorative elements. The underside is finished with an impressive multi-point starburst cutting.
The deeply worked crystal and intricate geometric decoration are characteristic of fine late 19th- to early 20th-century brilliant cut glass. The vase is unsigned, and the maker has not been definitively identified.
A substantial decorative vase with excellent sparkle and an unusual butterfly motif. Beautiful displayed on its own or filled with flowers.
