This is a vintage Seiko Marvel 17 Jewels manual-wind watch, one of Seiko's important early mechanical lines and a watch I originally intended to restore for my own collection.

The watch has a particularly attractive classic Marvel look, with a silver-tone dial, gold-tone hands and hour markers, Arabic numerals at 12 and 6, and the distinctive applied S emblem above the Seiko Marvel signature.

I have several other restoration projects waiting, so rather than leave this one sitting unfinished, I am offering it to another collector who would like to complete the restoration.

The watch appears substantially complete and retains a very attractive period Marvel presentation. The signed SEIKOSHA 17 JEWELS movement is present, along with the original-style dial, hands, crown, case and caseback shown in the photographs.

I originally planned to repair and keep this watch myself because it is a particularly handsome early Seiko, but I already have more restoration projects than I realistically need.

Balance staff requires replacement. This diagnosis was provided by my watchmaker.

The crystal needs replacement. The existing crystal shows extensive scratches / crazing and visibly affects the appearance of the dial.

The stainless-steel case shows scratches, marks and normal age-related wear consistent with a vintage watch.
