EDWARD VII GOLD HALF SOVEREIGN Coin 1909

Description

SAILING SHIP VICTORIAN WOOD WORK BOX BURR WALNUT MARQUETRY c1850

Victorian period marquetry work box circa 1850.  Fabulous marquetry panel to the front & cover depicting sailing ships, possibly tea clippers.  Exotic woods against burr walnut.  The workbox interior has a lift out upper tray.

Dimensions: approx 13 inches long x 9¼ inches deep.

Very good condition but there are various imperfections commensurate with age & use.  Some chipping & cracking to the veneers.  The panel on the cover has an element of veneer curl to the section edges & some visible shrinkage.  However, all the marquetry pieces are stable & there isn't much in the way of loss.
