What this part does

The Liftgate or Trunk Lid encloses the rear cargo compartment, providing structural security, weather sealing, and aerodynamic continuity for the rear of the vehicle. It serves as the mounting foundation for the rear window glass, wiper motor assembly, license plate bracket, and the rear latching mechanism. On modern luxury utility vehicles, this assembly also houses the control modules and wiring harnesses for the automated power close system and rear backup camera. When the outer shell is warped or severely dented due to an impact, the entire structure must be replaced to ensure the latch aligns correctly and the weather stripping seals out exhaust fumes and moisture.

Check your current vehicle to confirm whether it is equipped with the standard or power-operated liftgate, as the internal wiring harnesses and lift strut mounting points can differ. Liftgates are generally sold as bare shells; expect to transfer your original rear glass, interior trim panels, wiper motor, and latch assemblies unless the listing photos specifically show them included. You must also transfer your existing lock actuators and backup camera to retain full integration with the vehicle's central electronics and security system.
