completely consecutive
8-issue narrative run of the original Cerebus the Aardvark series, published directly by Aardvark-Vanaheim in
1988.
This stunning run captures one of the most famous and artistically breathtaking peaks in independent comic history. Running seamlessly from issue #105 to #112, this block maps out the complete narrative of the Ascension's End storyline and the surrealist Walking on the Moon sequence. It acts as the grand, mind-bending climax to the multi-year Church & State epic.
Because these are true 1980s first editions, they showcase the legendary "Note from the President" editorial essays by Dave Sim and the vintage letters columns that were completely removed from later phone-book trade paperback reprints.
Condition & Grading Report (Honest Reader Stack)
- Overall Grade: Offered strictly as a mid-grade Reader Lot. These books have been handled, loved, and read over the decades.
- Covers & Spines: Front and rear covers maintain beautiful color contrast and their iconic minimalist aesthetic. Expect normal handling wear including minor edge rubbing, light surface scuffs, and slight softening to corner tips. Spines show standard vertical stress wrinkles around the original staples, which remain firm and securely attached.
- Interior Pages: Every issue is 100% complete and fully intact. The internal leaves exhibit moderate uniform age-toning and browning around the page edges, which is completely natural for 1980s independent newsprint stock. The intricate, world-class background line work by Gerhard remains wonderfully sharp, dark, and clear. Pages are completely free from modern pen markings, text tears, or clipped coupons.
I am currently clearing out a massive, dedicated lifetime collection of Cerebus. I am more than happy to offer combined postage if you win multiple lots—simply add them to your basket or message me before checkout!
