Full Description:
Up for sale is a wonderfully expressive Vintage Mid-Century Modern leather-wrapped hippopotamus tabletop sculpture. Dating to approximately the 1960s or 1970s, this unique accent piece features a classic roaring/open-mouth design, realistic inset red glass eyes, and four white stylized teeth/tusks.
This is a beautiful, highly collectible example of vintage leather animal artistry, similar in style to items historically retailed by high-end retailers like Liberty of London. It has a lightweight core structure (likely papier-mâché or composite) covered entirely in genuine deep-brown patinated leather.
