Up for sale is a classic, high-quality vintage Hitachi TRK-8080E Portable Stereo Radio Cassette Recorder made in Japan (circa 1978). This iconic "Ghetto Blaster" features a heavy-duty build and the famous 2-Way 4-Speaker system.
Condition Report: Radio: Tested and fully working on both FM and AM bands. Tuner dials smoothly and picks up signals easily. Aerials: Both telescopic antennas are original and complete. Battery Bay: Clean with no signs of historic battery acid leakage or corrosion (see photos). Cassette Deck: Non-working. When pressing play/rewind, you can hear the motor power up, but the tape does not turn. This apparently indicates the internal rubber belts have perished over time and need replacing. Sold as a tape deck repair project.
Cosmetics: Good overall vintage condition with all original knobs present. There are a few minor dings/marks along the front edge of the silver metal trim (clearly shown in the close-up photos). Power Lead: NOT included. (A mains lead was borrowed strictly to test the unit for this listing). It uses a standard figure-8 power cable, or can be run on 8x D-cell batteries.
Great cosmetic restoration or belt-swap project for a vintage audio enthusiast!
