Vintage/used machinist serrated steel step block assortment from Northwestern Tools and Carr Lane Manufacturing.

This is a mixed-size lot of heavy steel step blocks used for machine-shop workholding and setup applications. These blocks are designed to provide adjustable-height support for strap/hold-down clamps on milling machines, boring mills, machine tables, fixtures and similar machining setups.

Several pieces retain identifiable manufacturer and part markings. Visible markings include Northwestern Tools, Inc., Dayton, Ohio, Northwestern part numbers including the 36103/36104 series, and Carr Lane Mfg. Co. markings including CL-40-BS. Please review all photos closely for the exact markings, sizes and pieces included.

The assortment contains multiple sizes/styles rather than one matched-size set. Some blocks have handling holes, while others are smaller solid serrated blocks. The mating serrations allow compatible blocks to be stacked/adjusted to different working heights.

These are used shop tools and show normal signs of previous industrial use, including scratches, finish wear, discoloration, small areas of surface oxidation/rust, dings and other cosmetic wear. The gray-painted block also shows finish wear. No attempt has been made to refinish or alter them.
