The dimensions of the canvas itself - without the frame - are 24 x 19 inches approximately as shown in the pictures.
I am reliably informed the subject is: “Leda and the Swan” (Zeus). Leda and the Swan is a famous story from Greek mythology
where the god Zeus takes the shape of a swan and approaches Leda, the Queen of
Sparta.
This product is an original 1930s oil painting that serves as a study piece. The painting is done on canvas and comes with its original frame, which has been painted and engraved. As a one-of-a-kind (OOAK) piece, this handmade artwork is a unique addition to any art collection. While it does not come with a certificate of authenticity, the personalised touch and historical significance make it a valuable and authentic piece of art from the post-war era.
The framed art was purchased from an art gallery in South Kensington in the late 1990s. The price paid (I don't still have the receipt) was over £1,000 at that time. We hope that someone will invest in this original oil painting in its very unique frame, and lovingly repair the chips in the frame and the loose nails holding the canvas within the frame.
I cannot certify the authenticity of this art apart from saying that I have owned it for more than thirty years it's been in my possession inside my dry and well maintained family home.
Insured postage to delivery addresses in the mainland UK is included in the price.
