Wonderful vintage 1950s Mid-Century Modern ceramic Mermaid TV Lamp with its original-style embossed fiberglass shade.

The glossy seafoam/chartreuse green ceramic base features a seated mermaid with a flowing tail, tropical fish and sculpted waves. The curved translucent shade has an underwater design with embossed fish and seaweed accented in soft green and coral, with decorative lacing around the edges.

When illuminated, the shade gives off a beautiful warm glow and really brings out the underwater design.

Measures approximately:
9 1/2" wide × 3 3/4" deep × 7 1/2" tall.

Condition:
Lamp is in good vintage condition overall and has been tested and works great.

The ceramic portion appears to be in good condition with normal age-related wear. The original fiberglass-type shade does have several cracks, which are shown clearly in the photos. The shade remains intact and displays very nicely.  It retains at least some of the tinted colors on the seaweed and fish

There is also age-related discoloration, dust and surface soil, especially in the recessed areas. This lamp does need a more thorough cleaning. Because cleaning the tight areas would require removing or manipulating the vintage shade—and the shade already has cracks—I have intentionally left that for the new owner rather than risk causing additional damage.

Includes the vintage socket, cord and plug shown in the photos. The lamp has been tested and lights properly. As with any vintage electrical item, the wiring has not been professionally inspected.
