Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic late 19th to early 20th-century European animal bell. Unlike common stamped sheet-metal bells, this piece was individually sand-cast in solid bronze or heavy brass, giving it thick walls, excellent weight, and a wonderful resonant tone. This bell features a distinct, slightly flattened conical body with an integrated loop handle. Molded directly into the side of the metal are the raised letters "JA", representing the original blacksmith, regional foundry, or historical estate.
Condition Report: The bell is in excellent antique condition with no cracks or structural damage to the bronze body. It features a stunning, completely untouched dark brown mineral patina that only comes with over a century of genuine age and outdoor exposure. The interior retains its original heavy, hand-forged iron ball clapper and hanging loop, functioning perfectly. A fantastic, highly tactile addition to any collection of early metalware, folk art, or historic agricultural Americana/European primitives.
