A wonderful piece of Hilton Head and Lowcountry culinary history,
Gourmet According to Saint Luke's was compiled by the St. Luke's Episcopal Church Guild of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. This is the 1977 second edition of the cookbook originally published in 1975. The spiral-bound community cookbook is filled with recipes contributed by members and friends, with many presented in the contributors' own handwriting. Recipes range from appetizers and seafood dishes to cakes, desserts and other home-cooking favorites, including regional selections such as Hot Crab Dip using fresh local crab meat. Beyond its recipes, this cookbook offers a charming glimpse into 1970s Hilton Head Island community and food culture.
