  • Description: A beautiful crisp about uncirculated banknote from France. This is the 1923 five francs or cinq Francs issued by the Bank of France (Banque De France). The banknote is lilac in color both on the front and back. The front depicts the image of a woman in a helmet within a circle at the top of the left side. The back has the image of a dock worker carrying a sack with sail ships in the background. The front shows the name of the bank, two signatures, the denomination, the serial number, and the date. The back only shows the denomination and the name of the bank. This particular note has the serial number 391632019 displayed in the center of the top of the front. The banknote is dated K.14=11=1923.K. in the center of the front. The banknote was most likely never circulated, but was handled and has signs of such handling in the form of a light finger print, some light soiling on the side edge, and a few light wrinkles along the edge. The banknote has a watermark depicting the head of a worrior woman wearing a helmet and has no security thread.   • Condition: I would grade the banknote as About Uncirculated with all the details being very well preserved. The note looks great and is beautiful. The banknote was most likely never circulated, but was badly handled and has signs of such handling in the form of a light finger print, some light soiling on the right side edge, and a few light wrinkles along the top edge. However, the corners are fully squared and intact with no observable rounding. The note has no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears, and no splits. The note is clean with no staining. This is a beautiful note that is nicely margined and would make a great addition to your collection of French banknotes. Please see photo for additional condition information.
