Original dust jacket is present with protective covering and shows age-related wear, rubbing, edge/corner wear, tape and labels. Hardcover and binding remain intact. Phillips, an explorer and archaeologist who served as Economic Adviser and Representative for the Sultan of Oman and Dependencies, presents a history of Oman covering its early development, Omani influence in Africa, the Albu Said dynasty, Muscat, the slave trade, rebellion and political developments of the region.


Published in 1967 by Reynal & Company in association with William Morrow & Company. The book contains historical illustrations and photographs.
