We have just received a 2012 "50th Anniversary 1962 Sorrento Natural," a limited-edition model with only 1,962 units produced!

It has been over a decade since its manufacture, making it a rare model that is seldom seen on the market today.

This instrument is in beautiful condition with no noticeable scratches or blemishes.

The neck is straight, and the truss rod has plenty of room for adjustment in both directions.

There is virtually no fret wear.

The Gibson model most comparable to the Sorrento is the ES-125TC. They share many features, such as a 16-inch body width, a thin body without a center block, and a minimalist aesthetic. However, a major difference lies in the pickups: while the ES-125 uses P-90s, this model features mini-humbuckers. Although mini-humbuckers are frequently found on Epiphone hollow-body and semi-hollow guitars, they are rarely used on Gibson models. Their tonal characters are distinct; the P-90 offers a thick, bold sound, whereas the mini-humbucker delivers a bright, shimmering tone. This distinction likely reflects a strategy from that era to differentiate the brands and successfully market both.

Returning to the Sorrento: it was first produced in 1960 and manufactured until around 1969, undergoing gradual minor changes along the way. It was likely discontinued when Epiphone shifted its manufacturing base to Japan.

As it is a 1962 model, it features the "large headstock" design—a specification evolution shared with models like the Casino. Since the position markers were changed to oval inlays midway through 1962, this specific unit dates from before that change.

The fretboard is, of course, Jacaranda, boasting a tight grain and authentic texture. The body features the same maple/poplar/maple laminate construction found in the Gibson ES series, while the neck is mahogany.
