Critical Daughterboard Information (Made Clear)

Inside every PS3 Slim Blu‑ray drive is a small internal logic board, commonly called the daughterboard. This board is physically mounted inside the drive unit and is electronically paired (“married”) to your console’s main motherboard.

✔ If replacing the entire Blu‑ray drive

You must remove the original daughterboard from your old drive and install it onto the replacement drive. Without this swap, the PS3 will not read discs, even if the new drive is fully functional.

✔ If replacing only the laser or mechanical deck

You do not touch the daughterboard. The original board stays inside the drive and remains paired with the console.
