Antique U.S. Slicing Machine Co. / Berkel cast iron flywheel from La Porte, Indiana.
Original 11-inch decorative flower-pattern flywheel from an early hand-crank commercial meat slicer. Raised cast lettering around the wheel reads:
“U.S. SLICING MACHINE CO. – LA PORTE IND.”
Reverse is marked “2002 A.”
Measures approximately 11 inches in diameter and includes the crank with wooden handle. This style of wheel is associated with early U.S.-made Berkel slicing machines, including the small Model B machines from the early 20th century.
The wheel is in as-found antique condition with age-related wear, oxidation, scratches, paint loss and flaking. It appears to have been repainted at some point, with an earlier brighter red finish visible beneath the darker red paint. Please examine all photos carefully for condition.
I have not cleaned, stripped, repainted or restored the wheel.
Great original part for a Berkel/U.S. Slicing Machine restoration, or an attractive piece of early butcher shop, deli, restaurant or industrial Americana.
