Collection of five original Baltimore newspapers published December 15–20, 1965, documenting the historic Gemini 6 and Gemini 7 missions, the first crewed rendezvous in space, and the astronauts’ safe return.

Included are:

December 15, 1965 – The News American
“Gemini 6 Stalks ‘7’ for Space Meeting”
Reports preparations for Gemini 6 astronauts Wally Schirra and Thomas Stafford to rendezvous with Gemini 7 in orbit.

December 16, 1965 – The Evening Sun
“Gemini 6 in Safe Splashdown, Spacemen Board Carrier Wasp”
Reports the safe return of Gemini 6 following its historic rendezvous with Gemini 7. The masthead states 102 pages. This issue contains noticeably more pages and sections than the other newspapers in the lot, but the pages have not been counted and completeness has not been verified.

December 19, 1965 – The Sunday Sun
“Gemini 7 Feat Hailed; Astronauts in Good Condition”
Features Frank Borman and James Lovell following their record-setting 14-day endurance mission. The masthead states 226 pages; however, the included pages and sections have not been counted or verified as complete.

December 19, 1965 – The News American
“Weary Astros Happy on Return”
A second Baltimore newspaper published the same day, offering different front-page photographs and coverage of Borman and Lovell’s return.

December 20, 1965 – The News American
Includes postflight Gemini coverage under the headline “Lack of Space, Dull Food Chief Astro Complaints,” along with prominent Baltimore Colts and Green Bay Packers playoff coverage and other period news.

Together, these five newspapers form a fascinating contemporary timeline of one of NASA’s defining Project Gemini achievements—from the planned orbital meeting through the rendezvous, splashdowns, medical reports, and astronauts’ firsthand reactions.

These newspapers came from an estate and are being offered exactly as found. I am not a newspaper collector or historian and know only what can be observed from their dates, headlines, and visible condition. Pages and sections have not been counted, and none of the issues is represented as complete.

Please examine all photographs carefully, as they show the exact five newspapers included and are an important part of the description. I will gladly answer questions or provide additional photographs to the best of my ability before purchase.
