In the lower part of the picture you can see the distinctive mid-century modern buildings designed for Mackinac College including Mission Point Theater, completed in 1955, and the massive Film Studio / Sound State building completed in 1960. The school only operated from 1966-1970. The site later transitioned through the Rex Humbard Ministry before ultimately becoming Mission Point Resort. The Marina Docks extending into the harbor are arranged in the configuration utilized during the island's mid-century tourism boom. The Grand Hotel is visible in the upper right, and the Mackinac Bridge, completed in 1957, can be seen in the upper left edge.
The photograph is signed by Bob Carr. Robert "Bob" Carr was a prominent figure closely tied to the preservation and history of Mackinac Island. He served as the Director of the Mackinac Island Chamber of Commerce starting in 1974 and was instrumental in community restoration projects including saving the historic Round Island Lighthouse.
