Beautifully Framed Engraving by Emil Lerg - "Abbaye Du Saint Michel Vue De La Tour Du Nord"

I believe the engraving dates from circa1915 when the artist completed a series of Mont St Michel engravings.

The engraving measures 5" wide X 7.5" tall sight; and 14.5" tall X 11.5" wide framed

This is a fine etching depicting the Abbaye Du Saint Michel at Mont-Saint-Michel, France.  Artists loved St Michel because of its great architecture and heavy shadows — perfect material for an etcher.

The subject is very characteristic of late 19th to early 20th-century architectural etching. Note the Fine, controlled line work and the dense cross-hatching to model light and shadow.  There is a strong emphasis on architectural mass and depth in the work.

Especially take note of the plate marks visible around the image which confirm that it is an original etching not a later print of the work.

The engraving is in Excellent Condition with no visible foxing.  It is beautifully framed and the frame is in perfect condition.  Please examine all the photos close up to confirm the condition of the piece for yourself.

Note that I have three other Emil Lert works listed on eBay.  Two others from the same Mont St Michel Series and one of Caen. See the final photo on this list to view all four and feel free to make me an offer if you'd like to purchase all four of them

Thanks for looking and happy Bidding!
