An uncommon early ROTC and U.S. Coast Artillery publication documenting military training at Fort Monroe, Virginia, one of the most important historic coastal defense installations in the United States.

The volume includes a historical section on the camp, photographs and accounts of training, artillery instruction, camp life, and participating institutions. The historical text notes that Fort Monroe served as headquarters of the Coast Artillery School and describes training with heavy artillery, machine guns, mortars, and other military equipment.
