Original World War II U.S. Army Women’s Army Corps recruiting booklet, circa 1944, titled “Woman’s Place in War – Women’s Army Corps.”

Issued as part of the U.S. Army’s wartime recruiting campaign encouraging women to enlist in the Women’s Army Corps. The booklet prominently states that “The Army of the United States Has 239 Kinds of Jobs for Women” and discusses opportunities within the Army Air Forces, Army Ground Forces, and Army Service Forces.

The opening section features a photographic portrait of Colonel Oveta Culp Hobby, Director of the Women’s Army Corps, together with her recruiting message encouraging eligible American women to serve.

A particularly attractive piece of original WWII women’s military history, with a striking blue, red, white, and photographic cover design and numerous period photographs and illustrations throughout.

The related “Woman’s Place in War” recruiting campaign is documented by the Hoover Institution as having been issued by the United States Army Recruiting Publicity Bureau in 1944.
