Original early 20th-century Champion Iron Company Catalog No. 17, issued by the prominent ironworks manufacturer of Kenton, Ohio.

The catalog specializes in plain and ornamental iron fencing, gates, entrances, structural ironwork, and institutional iron construction. The company also advertises steel cells for city, county, and state prisons, along with architectural and municipal ironwork including railings, columns, storefronts, window guards, stairs, fire escapes, lamp posts, gratings, and related products.

The illustrated front cover features Design No. 128, a highly ornamental cemetery entrance marked “Rock Grove Cemetery.” Interior pages contain detailed line illustrations of elaborate cemetery gates, fence panels, posts, and entrances, including designs such as “Fairview Cemetery.”

The introductory text states that Champion had been manufacturing steel fencing continuously for forty years and identifies this as its number seventeen catalogue. Champion originated in Kenton in the mid-1870s and adopted the Champion Iron Company name in 1899, making a circa 1915-1916 date quite plausible for this issue. The company was a substantial regional manufacturer known for ornamental fencing as well as structural, prison, and government ironwork.
