Antique Victorian Gold Bird & Floral Brooch / Pendant

A truly exceptional antique brooch featuring an elaborate dimensional garden scene with two jeweled birds surrounded by flowers, leaves, scrolling wirework and suspended teardrop drops.

Believed to date to the late Victorian era, circa late 19th century, based on its construction, long pin stem, intricate applied wirework and naturalistic bird-and-flower motif. Exact age and maker are unknown.

The brooch displays beautiful mixed gold tones with individually formed leaves, blossoms and curling wire details. Two charming birds form the centerpiece, each accented with pale blue cabochons and a tiny red eye. Additional pale blue and pearl-like accents are scattered throughout the floral design.

The piece is wonderfully dimensional and highly detailed, with three articulated teardrop-shaped drops suspended from the bottom.

It can be worn as either a brooch or pendant, with a pin mechanism and pendant bail present on the reverse.
