Used Item

This is a modified version of the MD-MM Produce "G3 Mod," featuring M-1 pickups, a brass nut, and wiring customized to the specifications of the late Masaki Matsubara.

MD-MM Produce is a brand born from the collaboration between the late studio musician Masaki Matsubara and instrument producer Toshio Yamato. The brand offers guitars that embody the specific sound and playability Matsubara sought.

The M-1 pickups installed on this instrument utilize Alnico #4 magnets and undergo a double-wax potting process using waxes of varying viscosities; this design suppresses feedback while maximizing mid-low frequency response, clarity, and high-end sustain. The bridge position is designed to deliver a bright sound with a strong attack.

Additionally, the nut has been replaced with brass, and the wiring has been modified to reflect Matsubara's preferred tonal characteristics. This results in a highly specialized custom model that differs significantly from the standard G3.

Regarding controls, the standard 3-way switch has been upgraded to a 5-way switch, allowing for the use of individual single-coil modes from the M-1 pickups. Furthermore, the wiring incorporates a specific configuration favored by Matsubara: using the mini-switch while in the "half-tone" (intermediate) position enables a half-tone sound combining the single-coil modes of both humbuckers.

The guitar captures delicate nuances in clean tones and delivers a thick, commanding sound when distorted, making it suitable for rock and fusion, as well as a wide range of tones designed for studio work.
