This antique yellow ware bowl was made in Derbyshire, England ca 1850. This has an impressed stamp on the base that indicates it was made by R. Staley & Sons. The first part of the mark did not take, but what I can make out is; By (Derby?) Potteries, R. Staley & Sons, Warranted, Burton-On-Trent. This company was started around the 1820s by Richard Staley, and his sons would join the firm in the mid 1800s. Later it would become Staley Brothers. This pan measures approximately 12 1/2" in diameter at the top and weighs about 3.2 pounds. The sides are slightly uneven and range from about 2 3/4" to 3" tall. It is such a wonderful primitive piece of utilitarian pottery, and in a very appealing yellow color. The condition is very good with no chips, cracks or damage. There is expected surface scratches and wear, and some imperfections. Very rare and special to have this piece in such nice condition with the impressed mark. Please take a good look at the photos and thanks for viewing my listing!
