It is impossible to predict where an enemy bullet or fragments will come from, so it is worth taking care of your own safety in advance. The M-Tas brand has developed a Thigh Protection with a Class 1 Ballistic Package, which significantly increases the area of protection for the fighter's body. The product is a compact, removable module that provides anti-fragmentation protection for the thigh (femurs and arteries).
The thigh protection is suitable for use with WAR BELT ARMOR, WAR BELT ARMOR TEGRIS D-RING COBRA tactical belts and an inner belt (trouser belt). It is attached to them using slings (Mil-Spec technology) with sewn-in Velcro fasteners. The slings are additionally equipped with fastex (manufactured by WOOJIN), which, if necessary, allow you to quickly remove the thigh protection. On the front part of the module is a MOLLE system (made of Mil-Spec technology slings) to which you can attach additional equipment. On the sides of the thigh protection, there are straps with fastex, with which the volume of the module can be easily adjusted to your parameters. Elastic bands are sewn on the inside of the side straps, thanks to which the module will fit as tightly as possible to the leg and will not cause discomfort during operation.
The thigh protection is made of Cordura 500D - a durable material resistant to mechanical damage and high loads. The inner part of the module is made of 3D mesh, which provides shock absorption, good thermal regulation and comfort during use. Also, the thigh pads are equipped with class 1 ballistic packages that protect against ricochets and fragments. The armor packages are made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene and comply with STANAG 2920 with a V-50 fragmentation resistance index of about 614.5m/s.
To understand the analogy with bulletproof resistance, an armor package with a similar composition corresponds to class 1a (9x18 APS) according to DSTU 4103-2002 and class 1 (9x18 APS, 9x19 Luger) according to the new DSTU 8782:2018 (Class 1a, 1 means the equivalent in composition, which is tested on standard samples of 400x400mm. Therefore, the resulting injury may differ on samples of smaller size and shape).
