Original-looking antique Spanish Artillery Officer’s Smallsword / Dress Sword, featuring an ornate brass hilt, dark ribbed grip and long straight steel blade. Size 34 inches.
The sword bears characteristics associated with Spanish military officer swords manufactured in Toledo, Spain.
The hilt is especially attractive and highly detailed.
One side of the central guard features a crowned Spanish royal coat of arms, while the reverse features:
Crown + crossed artillery cannons + cannonballs
This crossed-cannon design is a recognized emblem of the Spanish Artillery Corps. Historical documentation shows Spanish artillery insignia using crossed cannons beneath a royal crown.
The blade carries old engraved/stamped lettering which appears consistent with Toledo manufacture, together with additional decorative monogram-style markings.
