Vintage ceramic figural salt and pepper shaker set in a dark glossy near-black glaze. The two pieces are graduated in size and shaped as stylized birds/penguins with a rounded head, sloping back and a bulbous lower body; from the side they show a strong curved profile.
Measured against the ruler in the photos, the larger shaker stands about 4 inches tall and roughly 2.5 inches at its widest, and the smaller shaker stands about 2.5 inches tall and about 1.6 inches wide.
Both shakers have pierced pour holes in the head and an open filler hole in the unglazed base ring. No stoppers or corks appear in the photos.
No maker's mark, backstamp or signature is visible in any of the photos, including the underside shot, so the maker is not identified here.
Condition is used and vintage. Photo 3 shows small light specks and pitting in the glaze on the larger piece and brown discoloration and roughness at the unglazed foot rings of both. The dark reflective glaze makes fine hairlines and small base chips difficult to judge from photos alone.
Sold as the two-piece set shown; nothing else is included.
