A superb small Worcester porcelain sweetmeat dish with "blind earl" rose moulding. It has a scalloped shaped rim and moulded stem handle with finely modelled rosebuds trailing around the edge. The dish surface surface with relief moulded sprays of rose leaves. Very delicate hand painted floral sprays in an early palette of pink, grey-green, orange, sulphur yellow and inky purple-blue enamels. A small device is painted in an ad hoc manner to the handle to help disguise some kiln spotting, a charming feature. Finished with a simple gilt rim. Unmarked, c.1765.
It measures 15.2cm (6") by 14.4cm (5 5/8") wide and 4cm (1 1/2") high.
In excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration and minimal handling wear. There is a small underglaze chip to the foot from manufacture.
