The Kozuka handle is decorated with a gourd motif. In samurai culture, the gourd was favored as an auspicious symbol of prosperity and the continuation of one's family line. Because the blade is broken halfway, this item is offered at a bargain price. However, the blade is made of solid, authentic iron, so a skilled artisan could potentially restore it.
