LETTERPRESS COMPOSITOR'S TOOL KIT.

3 composing slices or rules, 20 pica wide.

1 type cleaning brush, stiff short bristles.

1 compositor's tweezers with bodkin.

Brush and tweezer are from American Wood Type Company; steel slices of composing rules with sharp edge from LA Typefounders, when they were still in business, which makes them historic. Tweezers used in correcting the forme, with a bodkin to extract stubborn sorts or types. Type cleaning brush excels in getting out ink clogged in counters of small typefaces.

Rules or slices are used to move small pieces of lines from stone to forme or vice versa, to trim string, and to remove or install leading between lines of type.
