VINTAGE Tony Bennett Handmade Independent Studio Art Pottery Horse Sculpture UK

This is an AMAZING VINTAGE handmade and hand painted sculpture from renowned British sculptor Tony Bennett. Bennet often worked for Rye Pottery creating a line of animal figurines based on the novel "Canterbury Tales." This sculpture is one of his original independent works, and was made in the 1980s. It is marked on the bottom "6:6," which means it is the 6th or a run of 6. So it's a VERY LIMITED EDITION. His design was based on a Royal Doulton design from the 1940s, but Bennet put his own flare on it. The bubble spongework on the bas and the "chubby" look of the horse are signature Bennet aspects. It is stamped on the bottom with Bennett's cartouche and the number. It is an AMAZING piece of Tony Bennett ceramic artwork! It is in VERY GOOD CONDITION! There are no cracks, chips, nicks, stains, or discoloration. There is very little crazing.. The tail had been broken and re-glued (it's almost impossible to tell unless you're right up next to it) - see last photo. There is a little dirt on the bottom (see photos), but it can be taken off.
