C15 Power Lead + Extension Bundle — 4 Metres Total Reach, High Temperature Notched Keyway

Quick Specs & Highlights

  • Two cables, one order — an Australian mains lead and a C15 extension, so the run reaches much further than a standard cord
  • Cable 1: AU 3-pin mains lead, 2 m, moulded Australian plug to a notched IEC C15 socket — this is the one that goes into the wall
  • Cable 2: IEC C14 to C15 extensionno mains plug on this one. Its C14 plug pushes into the C15 socket on the mains lead
  • Chain them and the pair reaches the full length below; use the mains lead on its own whenever you do not need the extra distance
  • Both are hot-condition C15, rated to 120°C, with the notched keyway a plain C13 does not have
  • H05RR-F rubber-sheathed flex on both cables, 10 A / 250 V, three core with earth
  • 4 metres of total reach when chained
  • Extension is 2 m; mains lead is 2 m

Product Overview

A mains lead and a matching extension, sold together. The first cable is a 2 metre Australian mains lead: a moulded AU 3-pin plug at one end and a notched IEC C15 socket at the other. The second is an IEC C14 to C15 extension. Push the extension's C14 plug into the mains lead's C15 socket and the two become one continuous run.

Which cable does what. Only the mains lead reaches a power point — it is the one with the Australian plug. The extension has an IEC connector at both ends and no mains plug at all; on its own it cannot reach a wall socket. That is not a limitation, it is the point: it is the piece that adds distance to a cord you already have. Bought together you get both halves, and either can be used by itself.

Why the pair rather than one long cable. Most of the time a 2 metre lead is plenty, and a permanently long cord just leaves a coil to bundle up behind the appliance. Keeping the extension separate means you run short when short is enough and add the extra metres only when the outlet is genuinely far away — a wall bracket, the far side of a bench, the next shelf up in a rack.

The notch matters. C15 is the hot-condition member of the IEC 60320 family, rated to 120 °C where an ordinary C13 kettle socket is rated to 70 °C. An appliance with a C16 inlet will accept a C15 and will physically refuse a C13 — that interlock is deliberate. Because the keyway only adds a groove, a C15 also drops straight onto a normal C14 inlet, so this pair covers both cases.

Both cables are H05RR-F — rubber insulation over rubber sheath, three cores, 300/500 V. Ordinary cords are H05VV-F, which is PVC and softens against heat. Putting a PVC extension between a hot appliance and its supply would undo the point of the hot-condition inlet, which is why both halves are built the same way.

Suits kettles and urns, projectors, catering and lab equipment, and anything else with a notched C16 inlet — and equally a rack, where server, switch, UPS and PDU inlets are C14. Moulded at both ends on both cables; nothing to assemble.

This bundle is a 2 metre mains lead plus a 2 metre extension — 4 metres end to end. Four metres covers most domestic and office cases: a wall-mounted appliance, a bench with the outlet behind it, or a rack device a couple of shelves from the distribution unit. A 5 metre version is listed separately.
