The 1830 Philippines Octavo Real is a rare, historically significant copper coin minted in Manila during the Spanish colonial rule of King Ferdinand VII. Representing the smallest fractional denomination of the Philippine Real currency system, this specific coin was valued at 1/8 of a real (or 1/4 of a quarto) and was heavily utilized in everyday small-scale transactions.Because 1830 was the final year of production for this short-lived copper series (which ran from 1820 to 1830), surviving examples in high grades are incredibly scarce and highly prized by numismatists.
